Legacy works with private landowners and funders to select, secure, and manage conservation properties in Mountain View County and surrounding municipalities.
The Conservation Committee advises on all matters related to conservation planning, conservation easements (CEs), and other land stewardship initiatives. This includes responsibility for reviewing and making recommendations on CE grant applications, as well as developing policy and guidance materials for securing and managing CEs.
These two committees work together to develop, communicate and deliver related programs.
Communications and Outreach guides the messaging and shares this with a variety of audiences from newcomers to long-standing Friends and supporters. Promotions are carried out through Legacy’s website, social media and the news media.
Fundraising plans, coordinates and implements fundraising endeavours that support Legacy’s projects and activities. It advises the Board on fundraising strategies and works with sponsors and funders.
The Government and External Relations Committee advises Legacy’s Board on matters related to federal, provincial, and municipal governments. The committee helps define policy issues and interpret external developments. It also coordinates outreach and advocacy activities related to government and external relations.
The Governance and Finance committees advise the board relative to their subject matter knowledge and guide Legacy’s growth and function.
